Q: Why should you use Express?

A: • Express provides the cleaning power and kill of chlorine dioxide in an easy to use concentrate.
• Daily mixing assures a safe, quality product every time.
• Mixed properly, Express provides excellent mastitis protection with good teat conditioning.

Q: Why can’t one use other teat dips?

• Disadvantages of Iodines:
- Many untested brands
- Iodine activity can be affected by organic matter including milk and manure
- Can cause teat chapping
- Has residue concerns
- Poorly formulated products support pseudomonas growth

Q: Is the product compatible with other udder care products?

A: We have not encountered and would not expect any adverse reactions with this product. In fact, it is always recommended to use the same germicide pre- and post-milking to avoid any incompatibility problems. We experience very few problems of incompatibility with other germicides.

Q: A milker has some skin irritation as a result of using the product, what is the solution and should there be any concerns?

A: There are no concerns regarding safety of the product. Although, just as individuals can be allergic to iodines, food and other products, they can also be allergic to chlorine dioxide. The best solution to this is to ensure gloves are worn during milking and avoid skin contact to avoid irritation.

Q: What happens if the product is not mixed exactly as per the directions: one part Activator to one part Base?

A: Express should be mixed according to the directions, although there is a small allowable margin of error. If the products are mixed with more than about 25% error, skin irritation or decrease in effectiveness may occur.

Q: How long is the product good for, once it’s mixed?

A: The length of time the product is most effective depends on temperature. The higher the temperature, the more quickly the chlorine dioxide will be quenched. It will be most effective if it is used within 24 hours of mixing.

Q: My milker has seen some teat skin sloughing off after 7 to 10 days of using the Express product. Is this a problem and what should we tell this milker?

A: Express contains lactic acid, lactic acid acts as a skin defoliant and will slough off the dead skin on the surface. This is a desirable attribute to the product and will expose a healthy, new layer of skin. Healthy teat skin and teat ends are better able to defend against bacteria growth.

Q: Is there any way to test if the product is mixed properly?

A: Yes, a chlorine dioxide test kit will assist in determining the amount of active chlorine dioxide in the product. The chlorine dioxide test kits should be used according to the instructions as included in the kits.
